Recently I heard someone ask, "Do you know why they call today the present?" As soon as they asked the question, my curiosity was piqued. Then they said, "Because it is a Gift." Ever since I heard that, I have been thinking about it. I have been letting it sink in..... I mean really sink in. Today is a gift.... What did I do with this precious gift that God has given me? Did I share the Gospel message with anyone who needed to hear it? Did I smile at someone, who really just needed to see a friendly face today? Did I say some kind words to someone who needed some encouragement? What did I do? What did I not do? Time is so precious.....it is something you can not get back once it has passed. Since I heard that saying, I have really been evaluating what I have done each day. I mean I get up and go to my everyday job and do my work, but, when I am there at my office, am I living out this gift of a day, the way that God wants me too? Often throughout the day, I find myself praying for different people.
I pray that a day will never pass the same again... that I will value the gift that God has given me and not waste a moment that He blesses me with. To appreciate and celebrate those around me, who are sharing the Gift with me. Why is today called the present.....because it is a Gift......let's not waste it! Soli Deo Gloria More of Him, less of me
